Mileage: 420 miles Chasers: Verne Carlson Left home at 11:00am and check data at the Holiday Inn of NSSC fame. A 5% risk of tornadoes existed in NE and SE CO. Headed out to Limon, CO and checked data again and saw that storms were firing to the south by Trinidad and were moving my direction. Headed south on 71 to Forder were I could see under the storms. Filmed some outflow winds and was hit by a wall of tumbleweeds! Headed north and east as some cells out by Cheyenne Wells now looked promissing. Tony called and saw a nice hook on the cell heading towards Kanorado. Got pulled over outside of Cheyenne Wells, CO doing 80 in a 65 but got off with a verbal warning! Headed north on 385 out of CW and caught the cell over Burlington, CO but it had weakened. To my south a cell was growing and I called it in to Goodland NWS as it took on a flying saucer shape and dropped a funnel for about a minute. Before that I also got some video of it dropping 1/2 dollar size hail.
